U N I T Y INVOLVEMENT AT THE UNIVERSITY

Unity Members contribute to the qualifying social work programme at the University. Involvement has included:

WORKSHOPS

  • The Ideal Social Worker ~ working with students on the first year of the programme, to help them consider what makes the ‘ideal’ social worker
  • Role Play Exercise ~ supporting students to develop their interview skills before they go on placement
  • Mental Health Workshop: Hearing Voices ~ insight to what it feels like to experience hearing voices
  • Mental Health Workshop: Confusion ~ insight to experience confusion
  • 2 x workshops facilitated by Unity members at the Real Lives; Real Difference Conference, Glasgow June 2013
  • Workshops with Adult Mental Health Nursing students
  • Keynote and workshop presentation at the NSQW Conference 2021
  • Working with groups of students at the University of Calgary via Zoom

Within the DVD, Unity members talk about their experiences of using social work services. Clips from the DVD are used on the social work programme

CONSULTATION

  • Unity members help to design the case study scenarios used for the social work student application process
  • Unity members attend the Inter-University Service User and Carers Network

It is common for newer members to observe workshops & participate when ready.
