Keeping It Real: Service User and Carer Involvement in Professional Education Conference

This national conference took place in April 2017. The purpose was to share and promote best practice in service user and carer involvement in professional education. The conference brought together service users and carers, students, educators, professionals and policy-makers. Partners included Unity, University of Stirling Students’ Union, the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), IRISS and the Scottish Inter-University Service Users and Carers’ Network. We also received funding from the Stirling fund.

Unity members did a sterling job and opened the conference with a key note address. There were keynote presentations from Sara Hitchin, Lecturer in Social Work at University of Stirling who talked about her reflections from working with Unity and Nick Andrews from Swansea University who talked about The Developing Evidence Enriched Practice (DEEP) project.

There were workshops from: Dundee University, Open University, Unity and Articulate, in East Renfrewshire, amongst others.

The conference was an amazing event and allowed fantastic dialogue. A podcast capturing some parts of the event can be found at IRRIS.

Check out some of the animations below that record the discussions we had on the day!
